Chee Cheong Fun

For our next stop, we had honestly run out of ideas at this time we decided to head to a destination that was unlike any place we'd ever been to. Quite some time of googling and "waze-ing" later, we arrived at The 5th Road, a Chee Cheong Fun shop operated from the outdoor entrance area of an actual home.

The moment we managed to park our car in the neighborhood, we entered the "house" and were asked for our queue number, to our shock. There were people seated on round tables and chairs that the owners had graciously put out while everyone waited their turn. We were curious as to how this would turn out - a literal "at-home" business selling Chee Cheong Fun that required a queue number? Now, this was definitely going to be something interesting.

While we waited for our number to be called (we were number 32), we watched the entire process of preparing the Chee Cheong Fun unfold before us. The sauces seemed to be the secret ingredient, and, as time went on (and our wait became prolonged), we noticed there were some customers who purchased over ten packets for takeaway.

Quite some time later, our number was called, and two plates of Chee Cheong Fun arrived at the table. Generously topped with golden fish cakes and moist fish balls, the thick soy sauce coated the flat noodles in a way that made our mouths water as we dived in to share what would become the best Chee Cheong Fun any of us have ever had.

Price for Chee Cheong Fun: RM3.80 (big) and RM3.20 (small)
As we were relentlessly devouring enjoying our Chee Cheong Fun, we noticed that the "shop" had no sign board to indicate its name. Later, we found out that the customers were the ones who had given it the name "The 5th Road" out of endearment and constant patronizing!
